tie-down points for a Maverick X3 in a 12 ft garage, what are you actually using

strap the frame or the wheels, never the suspension and never the bumper. the a-arms have bushings that do not like a side load for 300 miles. two ways that work.

wheel nets. four of them, one per tire, hooked into the e-track or the d-rings. the machine sits on its own suspension, nothing gets compressed, and it cannot walk because the tire is in a basket. this is what the tow truck guys do and there is a reason. 60 to 80 dollars a net.

or axle straps around the lower frame rail behind the front tires and in front of the rears, then a ratchet from the axle strap to the floor ring at about 45 degrees. crank until the suspension comes down maybe an inch, not to the bump stops.

either way the pull should be outward and down, front straps pulling forward, rear straps pulling back. if all four pull toward the middle the machine can pivot. and cover the ratchets, the garage floor on a Momentum is nice and the handles chew it.

x3 owner here, 2021 xrs. i run the wheel nets, four of them from a trailer supply place in Kerrville, i think they were 65 each. the one thing nobody tells you is the front tires on an x3 are wide and the net hooks need to reach the ring, so measure your ring spacing before you buy. my rear rings were 4 inches too far apart and i had to add a pair of recessed d-rings, which meant getting under the rig to put the backing plates on. an afternoon.

not an x3 guy but i will add the number nobody asks. an x3 DS turbo is about 1,700 pounds. in a 12 foot garage on a 328M the axles are forward of the garage, so most of that lands behind the axles and it takes weight off the pin. i put my rig on the scale with and without the machine loaded and the pin went from 2,600 to 2,150. that is fine on a 328M but it is worth knowing, because a light pin is how you get sway on a fifth wheel, which most people think cannot happen. if you have room, push the machine as far forward as the ramp lets you.

late but for the guys with a Defender or a Ranger instead of an x3, the frame under the seats has an open square tube on both sides and an axle strap fits right through it. that is what i do with the Defender in the 397 and it has never moved. check the strap ratings on the tag too, a lot of the cheap ones at the box store are 500 pound working load, which is not enough for a 1,600 pound machine at a hard stop. brp has the tie down points marked in the owner's manual for the whole lineup, it is on brp.com under owner support.
