the 6 month warranty on a used toy hauler through pace ace, what it covered when my slide motor quit

i asked the rookie questions in runge's thread in september and then we went and did it. 2020 Forest River XLR Boost 29QBS, bumper pull, bunk beds for the kids, 12 foot garage. sealed bid 24,600 through pace ace, the rig was at a yard in Houston. we tow it with my husband's 2018 Ram 2500 6.4. it showed up on september 24 and we have had it out twice, once to Choke Canyon and once to my dad's place in Poth.

last sunday the big slide, the living room one, went out about 8 inches and stopped. motor humming on one side and not the other. so this is the warranty thread, since runge said he wanted to read it when somebody had a real claim. i am 5 weeks in, which means the 30 day guarantee is over and the 6 month warranty is what i have. i am writing it as it happens so it is not going to be tidy.

day one, sunday: called the number on the site, got a person. told them the rig, the date it landed, and what the slide was doing. they asked me to send a short video of the motor humming and the slide stuck, which i did from my phone in the driveway. they said the warranty covers mechanical stuff that fails under normal use and a slide motor at 5 weeks was that, and to get it looked at by a tech and send them the diagnosis and the invoice.

day two, monday: called tony from this board because he is in Seguin, 50 minutes from us. coming thursday.

here is how it went. tony came thursday the 16th. one motor dead, the driver side, exactly like he said. he replaced both, 137 each, an hour and a half labor, and a trip charge from Seguin. invoice was 519 total. i paid him and emailed his invoice and write up to the pace ace people the same evening, video from sunday attached again.

friday morning i had an email back. they covered the dead motor, the second motor, and the labor. the trip charge they covered too, i had expected to argue about that and did not have to. i asked how it gets paid and they said a check to the address on the bill of sale. it was in the mailbox today, 519 dollars. so 9 days from the slide sticking to the check, and 4 of those were waiting on tony.

what they did not cover: nothing, because i did not ask about anything else. the awning arm has a bend in it that was in the listing photos if you zoom in, so that is mine. the 30 day guarantee never came up because nothing was misrepresented, the listing said the slides worked and they did, for 5 weeks.

two months later. slide has gone in and out maybe 30 times since the new motors, both sides in sync, no noise. we took it to my dad's for thanksgiving and to the coast at Goose Island the weekend after, about 400 miles on it total now. nothing else has broken. the awning arm i bent back myself with a pipe and a prayer. the warranty runs until march 24 by my math and i hope i do not write in this thread again, but if the other slide goes i will.

to answer tulsa from october: they did not argue about the second motor. tony wrote on the invoice why you replace them in pairs and that was the end of it. that was the part i was scared of and it was the easiest part.
